TV Presenters prepare to kick-off new events business with rugby hospitality - 218 Events
Two well-known S4C presenters are complementing life in front of the camera with an exciting new hospitality and events company, 218 Events.
Geraint Hardy (Capital FM, S4C, BBC Radio Wales, CBBC) and Owain Gwynedd (S4C, Premier Sports, BT Sport, ITV4) have joined forces to set up the new company – 218 Events, which will exclusively launch on Saturday 23 February when Wales welcome England to Cardiff in the first home fixture of the Guinness Six Nations 2019.
The company kicks off its 2019 portfolio with two match-day hospitality events in Cardiff City Centre for the Six Nations home fixtures against England and Ireland.
Each event includes an intimate Q&A and post-match analysis with former Wales’ international rugby players, a silent auction, two-course lunch and a private bar.
Ian Gough, Ian Evans and Richard Hibbard will be the first big-name rugby internationals to appear at 218 Events’ rugby days.
Former Ospreys, Dragons and Wales international Ian Gough says, “Six Nations fever is about to hit us again and I can’t wait for it to start. The atmosphere in Cardiff on a match day is better than any other city I’ve experienced and I’m excited to be speaking at 218 Events’ inaugural event and to watch the Wales v England match amongst the fans at the Mercure Hotel – and with a free bar, it’s sure to be a great night!”
Hardy, who has also presented radio shows for BBC Radio Wales and Capital FM, is no stranger to organising events. For years he has solely organised fundraising events for charity Living Room / Stafell Fyw, an organisation close to his heart.
Living Room / Stafell Fyw is a registered charity based in Cardiff. During his events, Geraint Hardy has raised £15,000 for the charity and a fifth charity golf day will take place at the Celtic Manor in November.
“I’ve been fortunate to have met many of Wales’ brightest sporting stars, hearing their stories first hand. I can’t wait for 218 guests to gain exclusive insight into the personalities of our VIPs in an intimate Q&A; to see them in a way you never have before,” explains Geraint Hardy.
Owain Gwynedd, who presents S4C’s daily magazine programmes Prynhawn Da and Heno (Good Afternoon & Tonight) and the Welsh language Channel’s rugby programming, adds, “Rugby has been a big part of my life since childhood. I’m really excited to be part of 218’s hospitality days and I’m looking forward to spending time with some interesting personalities and amazing guests.”
